The Salon d’Art of the Côte d’Azur expands its activity
artmonte-carlo enhances its artistic programming
The new edition of artmonte-carlo, which will take place from the 25th to the 28th of April 2019 at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco under the High Patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco and the direction of Thomas Hug, will welcome new prestigious galleries including White Cube, 303 Gallery, Raffaella Cortese, Mazzoleni or Skopia who will join galleries loyal to the Salon since its creation such as Victoria Miro, Almine Rech, Blain I Southern, kamel mennour, Perrotin, Mitterrand, Tornabuoni Art, Franco Noero, Continua or Air de Paris.
We are pleased to announce the first edition of PAD Monaco, which will host 30 of the most important design, decorative arts and primitive arts galleries in the Diaghilev space of the Grimaldi Forum.
artmonte-carlo will be connected to PAD Monaco by a new section of 10 monographic exhibitions presented by galleries, each featuring one artist. The Prix Solo artmontecarlo – F.P.Journe will be awarded to the best solo exhibition by an institutional jury composed of Beatrix Ruf, Theresa Mavica (V-A-C Foundation, Moscow) and Cristiano Raimondi (Nouveau Musée National de Monaco).
The prestigious watchmaker F.P.Journe will acquire a work by the award-winning artist, which will then be donated to the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco.
In the luminous Verrière of the Grimaldi Forum, a vast installation by Anna Boghiguian, generously loaned by the Silvia Fiorucci Roman collection will welcome visitors at the entrance of the Salon.
Participating galleries will partake in Face to Face, a group exhibition featuring a crowd of sculptural creatures.
Hors-les-murs and thanks to the collaboration of artmonte-carlo and Monaco Boat Service, the emblematic Tunnel Riva at Port Hercule will host Ruffles, an installation by English artist Zoe Williams.
In fact, artmonte-carlo also takes place outside the Grimaldi Forum, allowing art to be federated and circulated throughout the Principality:
- The Nouveau Musée National de Monaco will present Ombre d’azur, transparence, an exhibition by Ettore Spalletti at Villa Paloma, as well as Step by Step, Un regard sur la collection d’un marchand d’art at Villa Sauber, curated by Cristiano Raimondi.
- Artcurial and Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer will present in partnership the first edition of Monaco Sculptures. This exhibition will bring together a selection of sculptures by artists from the 20th and 21st centuries gathered in the Resort Monte Carlo – Société des Bains de Mer.
- Finally, artmonte-carlo will partner with several artistic organizations in the Principality such as Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, which will present “Corpus” choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot and Goyo Montero involving almost all the fifty dancers of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, as well as the Pavillon Bosio, Monaco’s Fine Art school and Le Logoscope, a laboratory for multi-media artistic research.
